Devlog #2: Slicing and printing the Sorfc

An attempt to fight gravity by separating the object in way too many chunks.

Devlog #2: Slicing and printing the Sorfc

I put myself to unnecessary challenge: Can I chunk it in a way that we don’t need to use supports for printing it?

Prepping the mesh for print

I set the Support Overhang Angle to 52°. It means anything leaning more than 52 degrees away from straight up gets a support underneath it.

That also meant that I ended up having 14 different pieces to print (plus armor and surfboard).

The result

Slicing Sorfc into 14 pieces
Sorfc into 14 pieces

And this is how it looks assembled:

Afterwords

It is not always necessary to overengineer for the challenge’s sake, but hey, this is how we learn.
